The life and career of street artist Ozmo, born Gionata Gesi, is recounted in the book "OZMO 1998-2018." From his studies at theFlorence Academy to his arrival in Milan, from public works in Italy to those around the world (in cities such as Shanghai, Berlin and New York), the volume is divided into 5 critical texts, edited by as many authors(Pietro Rivasi, Alessandro Benassi, Alessandro Giammei, Cyrille Gouyette and Pierluigi Sacco), to tell in detail how Ozmo became a pioneer of an artistic genre with which he was able to mix creativity and inventiveness with socio-political themes.
“The archival work and research of the material,” reads the presentation, “has also led to the publication of images that take us into the artist’s studio in various temporal contexts, giving unseen and intimate moments of his work. Not only that. Ozmo’s opportunity to work all over the world and to collect photographic material in each place gives the volume an added value, that of being able to travel with the artist to savor in an organic and complete way one of the most important characteristics of his work: the close contact that each creation has and has had with the territory in which it was made.”
Edited by Francesca Holsenn and published by Crowdbooks, the book consists of 242 pages and measures 24×32 cm, all to contain the artist’s large murals, sometimes repurposed by double-page photographs.
