The Lercaro Collection launches a call for artists under 30 in collaboration with MAMbo's New Bread Oven

Raccolta Lercaro launches a call aimed at young artists and, thanks to the collaboration with MAMbo’s Nuovo Forno del Pane, the Impronte project is born: a creative space intended to be a place of encounter and dialogue on the themes of the sacred understood as a questioning of the meaning of existence. The Lercaro Collection is making some of its exhibition spaces available to three young artists to transform them into ateliers.

The call is aimed at young artists under 30, enrolled or graduated from Italian Academies and Art Schools or professionals. Three participants will be selected to create an original work on the theme Freedom and Responsibility. Man facing the challenges of life, through the languages and contemporary materials most suitable for each.

To participate in the selection you must send to segreteria@raccoltalercaro.it or mail to Raccolta Lercaro, via Riva di Reno 57 - 40122 Bologna application form, resume, work book and copy of an ID by August 30, 2020. The artists will be selected by Francesca Passerini (director Raccolta Lercaro), Andrea Dall’Asta SJ (director Galleria San Fedele, Milan), Claudio Musso (art critic, independent curator, professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti “G. Carrara” of Bergamo) and by one or more young curators nominated by the Director of the promoting museum.

The selection includes a pre-selection phase in the first week of September, an interview and a final selection, and the three selected will be officially notified by September 16, 2020.

The project is proposed as an accompanying course in reflection and artistic research on the theme. In October, a two-day workshop is planned, with hospitality of the artists at the guesthouse of the facility: lectures and specialized meetings on the theme, sharing of the reflections that have emerged, to develop a critical insight from individual reflections.

After the workshop, each artist will have to formulate a project for an original artwork and its realization, and the artists in residence at the Raccolta Lercaro will be able to use the workshops and equipment of the Nuovo Forno del Pane at MAMbo. A first presentation of the work will take place in January 2021 to the members of the curatorial team, and during ArteFiera, each artist will be able to open the atelier to the public to make their work visible to the public, including by exhibiting a selection of their work. The conclusion of the project is scheduled for March 2021; a jury will determine the winner of the call who will be entitled to their own solo exhibition in the museum’s exhibition spaces.
