Street artist Fabio Petani will create the largest mural in Rome by extension

Street artist Fabio Petani is the winner of the "Inhabit - Ethiopia Mural" exhibition. His work will become Rome's largest mural by size in the African neighborhood.

Winner of the exhibition Inhabit - Murales Etiopia, curated by Mirko Pierri on the initiative of Roman entrepreneur Maurizio Albano of PCT srl, is street artist Fabio Petani, class of 1987, with his work Calcite & Hedera Helix Pin Oak. The latter was in fact the most voted by the public and the jury of experts and will become the largest mural in Rome by size (28 meters high by 24 meters wide). The artist, who will receive a fee of 6,000 euros, will create it in the coming months in the African quarter, at 8 Via Santa Maria Goretti, on the adjacent facade and on the walls outside the"Ethiopia Temporary Art Hub," which hosted the collective of twenty-one international artists selected by the call of the same name.

Fabio Petani devotes his research to the union of art, chemistry and nature. In his compositions, natural forms, reminiscent of herbaria and naturalistic plates, are mixed with abstract forms. “The intervention aims to show how important nature can be in an urban context highly characterized by concrete,” the street artist explains. "The work becomes a glimpse out of the building to transport the viewer into a new possible natural reality to allow him or her to understand how much better the city would look with the right amount of vegetation. The drawing also shows how nature can regenerate what is tired, fatigued and weak. Indeed, from the bottom the colors begin to return vividly and brightly invigorating those at the top. While the ivy, represented graphically in white, is a symbol of strength and tenacity meant to indicate how nature stops at nothing to achieve its vital purpose. Finally, the central circle is a kind of portal that wants to transport the viewer to an alternate reality (as if the concrete had not reached those areas) that in a sense could return. The intent of the mural is to manifest how much nature can and should dialogue with modern cities, return to having the right spaces, obviously much more than it has today in large centers."

Taking second place were the Howlers Crew, the most voted by the jury of experts, to whom a prize of 500 euros goes. The most voted by the popular jury was Colorful immigrants by Mr. Fijodor, who will have the possibility of his own temporary exhibition.
