Following the creation of an office completely dedicated to street art, called Art in Public Spaces, to promote and enhance street art, the City of Milan is making available to street artists one hundred free city walls, in as many as seventy areas of the city, on which artists can freely express themselves.
An online georeferenced map shows and localizes the location of the free walls and the card of each of them. To recognize them on the spot, they have been marked with a special sign with the following wording: “The Municipal Administration disclaims any responsibility for damages that third parties and the users of this mural surface may incur, due to the creation of drawings and/or paintings, if they have not taken all necessary precautions to avoid them.”
The Administration reserves the right to have any inscriptions offensive to persons, religions or organs of state removed. It is also possible to comment on murals that are already present, as the walls are available to everyone. In addition, to create new street art works on the walls, there is no need to apply for permission or pay fees.
