It is online from today, March 8, on all free podcast platforms and on choramedia.com, Ritratti d’artiste: the new eight-episode series produced by CHORA MEDIA for the General Directorate of Museums, written by Michela Guberti, Francesca Borghetti and Francesca Abruzzese, which, with the voice of Serena Dandini, intends to offer a journey through the history of art through the lives and stories of eight protagonists of the past and present art scene.
A series that also wants to be an invitation to change perspective, because in the world of art women have not only been muses and models, but also painters, sculptors, performers; some very well known, others little known or even forgotten, all, however, united by exceptional talent and determined not to bend to the rules imposed by the society of their time and to fight against prejudice in every field.
The eight episodes of the series are respectively dedicated to the figures of Sofonisba Anguissola, a painter who lived at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries and was celebrated by the powerful of the time; Plautilla Bricci, not only a painter but the first woman architect in pre-industrial Europe; Ginevra Cantofoli, a representative of the Bolognese Baroque; and Rosalba Carriera, one of the most famous female painters in Europe in the first half of the 18th century. And again, Adriana Bisi Fabbri, active in the Futurist milieu also as a cartoonist and political caricaturist; Maria Lai, a Sardinian artist who was a great experimenter of techniques and materials; Carla Accardi, the only woman signatory of the manifesto of the avant-garde abstractionist group “Forma 1”; Ketty La Rocca who investigated different forms of expression, so much so that she was also called the first Italian body artist.
