In Sorrento, Jorit's mural depicting Lucio Dalla

Street artist Jorit is creating a large mural depicting the face of Lucio Dalla in Sorrento as part of the event I Colori di Lucio, marking the 10th anniversary of the singer-songwriter's death.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Lucio Dalla’s passing, Sorrento (at the Museo Civico Archeologico di Bologna the exhibition dedicated to him) also celebrates the singer-songwriter with the event I Colori di Lucio, conceived by the NEMESI association. The event will be held from March 4 to April 3, 2022 with the intention of “enhancing all aspects of Dalla’s colorful, passionate, multifaceted soul.” The artist, who composed Caruso in the very same hotel room that hosted tenor Enrico Caruso decades earlier, was also awarded honorary citizenship in 1997, testifying to his connection with Sorrento.

As part of the I Colori di Lucio (Lucio’s Colors) event, street artist Jorit is creating a large mural with Lucio Dalla’s portrait on the facade of a building near the Circumvesuviana station. In the background are phrases from another of the singer-songwriter’s songs, Se io fossi un angelo, from 1986: “And further down in South Africa talking to America and if they don’t shoot me down even with the Russians I would talk.” Dalla’s face will also feature the two red stripes on his cheeks typical of Jorit’s portraits.
