Franca Pisani's diptych on the Shoah arrives at the Botanical Garden of Padua

Franca Pisani's diptych 'Shoah Collective Memory' makes its entrance at the Botanical Garden of Padua.

Last January 26, on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the Aula Magna “Galileo Galilei” of Palazzo Bo, in Padua, the diptych “Shoah collective memory” created by the Tuscan artist Franca Pisani (who has always maintained a strong bond with the sacredness of remembrance) was presented. On that occasion the artist explained, "With the intention of homogenizing the story suspended between art and thought, I used an ancient technique, namely that of painting on Lyon silk, fluctuating and transparent as well as refined, which evokes in my work, vague archaeological visions of humanity. In addition, I included in the paintings the phrase ’Shoah, collective memory’ written in Italian, English and, of course, Hebrew. Basically, mine is a path in honor of who and what was brutally destroyed, erased. In the face of this we can only appeal to memory, which turns what was lost into homage, into investigation of tradition, and educates generations. It will be an emotional journey."

Now, the diptych has found a place to be placed: it is the auditorium of the BotanicalGarden of the University of Padua (at 15 Via Orto Botanico), where it will be inaugurated on June 26 at 5 p.m., in the presence of Rosario Rizzuto (Rector of the University of Padua), Giovanna Valenzano (Pro-rector of artistic and museum heritage) and the artist herself. Admission is free.

To reinforce the link with Padua, a temporary exhibition of Franca Pisani’s works and installations will be inaugurated next October at the Altinate San Gaetano cultural center, in the former courtyard that is now covered and has become an agora for exhibitions and events.
