From Tuesday, April 11, and until the end of June, in the church of San Leone in Pistoia (Italian Capital of Culture city 2017), it is possible to admire up close the 18th-century frescoes that decorate the walls, ceilings and apse, for a new appointment with the initiative Approach the beauty that had already brought the public to appreciate, in the same way, the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Corte (in 2014) and the Robbiano Frieze of the Spedale del Ceppo (in 2015).
The paintings, created by some important artists of the Tuscan (and non-Tuscan) eighteenth century such as Vincenzo Meucci, Giuseppe Del Moro and Mauro Tesi, are undergoing a restoration funded by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia e Pescia and Conad del Tirreno: visitors will be able to go up to the site to admire the works.
Guided tours of the San Leone frescoes are conducted by the Musiké Cultural Association of Pistoia (which already has collaborations with the Cathedral Chapter under its belt) and take place Tuesday through Friday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., on groups of up to six people. Cost of the visit: 5 euros per person, with tickets available at the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Corte. Reservations required by sending an email to info@medievalitaly.it or by calling 334 1689419.
The initiative is organized by Associazione Culturale Musiké in collaboration with Giorgio Tesi Group, NATURART and discoverpistoia.it
