INWARD, the Arteteca Cultural Association’s national observatory on urban creativity, has just a few days ago launched a crowdfunding campaign to complete the Naples Mural Park, an artistic redevelopment and social regeneration program conceived by INWARD in Merola Park in Ponticelli, one of the suburbs on the eastern outskirts of the Neapolitan city. Since 2015, internationally renowned street artists have taken turns to leave their works in the park, which has thus become at once a garrison of active citizenship, a means of social redemption and a cultural attraction. The work is not yet completed: therefore, INWARD is launching a campaign to raise the ten thousand euros needed to finance the final work, which will be signed by Neapolitan street artist Zeus40 and will convey the importance and sense of care, and will also be the basis for putting in place the production of the park’s new visual identity. “The funds raised,” INWARD explains, “will enable us to organize workshops, activities and social interventions on the value that has emerged, create the large mural work, and produce gadgets on the visual identity of the entire Murales Park.”
The first work to rise in the Mural Park was Ael. Tutt’egual song’e criature, by Dutch-Italian Jorit Agoch, followed by creations by Zed1(A’ pazziella n’man ’e criature), Mattia Campo Dall’Orto(Lo trattenemiento de’ peccerille, a clear reference to Giambattista Basile’s Cunto de li cunti ), Rosk&Loste ( Chi è vuluto bene non s’o scorda), La Fille Bertha (’A mamm’ ’e tutt’ ’e mamm’, a tribute to Piero della Francesca’s Madonna della Misericordia ) and Daniele Hope Nitti(Je sto vicino a te). Zeus40’s work will thus conclude the cycle.
The campaign includes a series of awards to supporters (as of today, Jan. 16, nearly 6,000 euros of the 10,000 needed have been raised, and the campaign will close on Feb. 3), such as postcards, shoppers, T-shirts depending on the amount donated to the cause. To be able to contribute, you can visit the campaign page on the Meridonare.it website.
