Coloring drawings for children (but not only) forced at home by the coronavirus emergency: the #COLORAVIRUS album is born, a sketch-book with one hundred drawings by over fifty artists, to be colored at home. The project was conceived and realized by the cultural association Il Cerchio e le gocce in collaboration with the Caravan Setup association: more than fifty established artists, illustrators and writers were involved (among them Corn79, Fabio Petani, Mr. Fijodor, Adam Tempesta, Aris, Etnik, Zed1, Francesca Tabasso), with the aim of offering everyone, reads a note, “an escape into the world of art, from the homes of artists to their own homes, to dye everyday life with beauty; a mode of art accessible to young and old, to which everyone will be able to make their own contribution, becoming part of the creative process of the work of established artists, illustrators and writers.” The end result will thus be a kind of “four-handed work” with the drawings provided by the artists and the colors that are instead created by anyone who wants to.

The sketch-book is free and can be downloaded from the appropriate link www.ilcerchioelegocce.com/coloravirus.pdf, after which you will choose to print your favorite drawing for coloring. For those who do not have a printer at home, however, it will be enough... to place a sheet of paper on the screen of your computer or tablet, increase the brightness to maximum, and go over the lines of the drawing with any tool (pencil, pen, crayon, marker, highlighter, watercolor... ) to start coloring. The artists involved also invite people to circulate a photo of the final result as a unique gesture of thanks for donating their drawings to this initiative. Tagging artist and promoting associations (Caravan SetUp, Without Frontiers-Lunetta a Colori, Il Cerchio E Le Gocce) will thus create a virtual artistic community, “far away in space, but united in time.” The published drawings will eventually become part of a dedicated book.

The association The Circle and the Dro ps was founded in Turin in 2001 with the intention of spreading interest in underground cultures, urban art and graffiti-writing. Since then, the association has promoted several massive and extensive interventions not only in Italy, but in the rest of Europe. The association has also managed to coordinate hundreds of international and Italian artists in the realization of major projects. Caravan Setup, founded in 2015 in Bologna (and with its own spin-off opened in 2018 in Mantua), is the brainchild of Simona Gavioli, an art critic and independent curator, with the intention of bringing together and giving visibility to young emerging talents in the art world, to propose an aesthetic outside the approved canons and at the same time accessible. Since 2016, Caravan Setup has been in charge of the Without Frontiers festival, Lunetta a Colori (facebook.com/withoutfrontiersmn/) for the Municipality of Mantua, expanding the call to artists from around the world to bring to life urban redevelopment and cultural enhancement projects.
