Verona, remains of a Roman domus discovered in Piazza Bra. They will be protected and re-interred

Excavation and documentation of the remains of the Roman domus found in Verona's Piazza Bra during work on the new medium-voltage line has been completed. The remains will be protected and re-interred.

Verona’s Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape announces that on Sept. 15 excavation and documentation activities were concluded on the remains of the Roman domus discovered in Verona’s Piazza Bra during work for the new medium-voltage line carried out by V-RETI.

This is a room, equipped with a cement floor with stone crustae and dotted in white limestone fragments, pertinent to the same domus identified in 1911 when the underground baths at the gardens of the square were built. A polychrome figured geometric mosaic with the figure of Dionysus with panthers came to light then, which was taken and preserved at the Archaeological Museum.

The remains will be protected and re-interred.
