Ancona's Roman Amphitheater joins the Italian Museums network. It will be open to visitors from mid-April

Ancona's Roman Amphitheater officially joins the national network of Italian Museums, under the management of the Regional Museums Directorate of Marche. It will be open to visitors from mid-April.

Ancona’s Roman Amphitheater officially becomes part of the national network of Italian Museums, under the management of the Marche Regional Museums Directorate, headed by Luigi Gallo. The amphitheater will be open to the public from mid-April, offering visitors an additional opportunity to discover the city’s historical heritage. Thanks to the possibility of combining a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of the Marches with the Amphitheater, the public will thus be able to enjoy an immersive experience in the fascination of the ancient world.

The Museums Directorate aims to ensure a program of weekly openings at the amphitheater starting in mid-April, in order to make the most significant archaeological area of the Marche capital city accessible.

“Over the past few years,” said Luigi Gallo, “the Marche National Museums Regional Directorate has taken special care in enhancing the exhibition venues and the collections they contain, an interweaving of events and works that contribute significantly to the history of regional heritage and identity. The Roman Amphitheater is an important part of this itinerary and gives back to the citizens and visitors of Ancona the cross-section of a crucial period in the history of the Doric city; a work that will continue over the coming months with the elaboration of a wide-ranging project of restoration and enhancement of the ancient monument, making all its particles accessible, to offer the most comprehensive and stratified view of the city made further possible by the proximity to the National Archaeological Museum, where just over a year ago a renovated museum section dedicated to the Roman Age returned to view.”
