As previously announced, the restoration of the Brancacci Chapel has begun and, thanks to the presence of scaffolding necessary for the diagnostic and restoration work, masterpieces by Masaccio, Masolino da Panicale and Filippino Lippi can be admired up close for the first time.
Thus, special visits to the Chapel building site inside the Church of the Carmine in Florence will kick off on Friday, Feb. 4. It will be open to the public four days a week: Friday, Saturday, Monday with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, however, it will be closed to the public to allow for work that requires the absence of visitors.
For security reasons, access will be by mandatory reservation and no more than ten people will be allowed in every 30 minutes. For reservations call 055 2768224 or write to bigliettimusei.comune.fi.it or cappellabrancacci@musefirenze.it. In addition, the elevator that will also allow visitors with mobility difficulties to access the site will be in operation shortly, subject to technical checks. For all updates you can visit cultura.comune.fi.it.
On the same opening days, introductory visits by MUS.E, preliminary to independent access to the Chapel, will be possible, with mandatory reservations by writing to cappellabrancacci@musefirenze.it. For information: www.musefirenze.it
